Yes, the Commissioner's Guidelines allow exemptions in extenuating circumstances. Each case is assessed on its own merits. The circumstances for granting exemptions are limited and in most cases relate to serious illness or misadventure. To find out more, please contact the Office of Fair Trading.

You must keep a diary / record of your CPD activities, along with evidence whenever possible, such as a certificate, academic or attendance record or a receipt if you purchase or hire learning resources. The application for Builders License renewal is in part (if not all) a Statutory Declaration. The renewal application asks whether a builder has undertaken and accumulated their required CPD Points. And by proceeds to lodge the renewal, the builder in essence is warranting in the Statutory Declaration that they have in fact done so. Fair Trading may carry out random audits or spot checks.

No, it is the builder’s responsibility to keep their own records of CPD activity.

The builder is to have completed their CPD requirements by the time they renew their builder’s licence.

The Home Building Act states that CPD must be completed before an application for renewal or restoration of a licence or certificate can be accepted. If you do not comply with the CPD requirements Fair Trading may reject your application until you have completed the points. Builders will need to provide Fair Trading with reasons setting out why they have not met the CPD requirements. If there are special or extenuating circumstances, a builder can make inquiries with the Office of Fair Trading and may be granted an exemption.

Fair Trading may cancel a licence or certificate. In certain circumstances disciplinary action can also be taken. It is a criminal offence under the Crimes Act 1900 to deliberately make a false or misleading statement on your application for renewal or restoration of your licence or certificate.

One can participate in other learning activities other than face-to-face training to acquire your CPD Points. Such as web-based learning, watching videos/DVDs and correspondence courses.

There are a vast range of topics to choose from that contain valuable information and in accordance with the categories stipulated by the Office of Fair Trading. Some of the modules provide project management templates, for processes applicable in real-life situations to greatly assist builders.

Yes. It is a requirement of the Office of Fair Trading that the CPD service provider warrants a learning outcome for participants. We provide an online quiz of multiple-choice in nature. Where participants simply select “A”, “B”, “C” or “D” for a question relating to the module selected. Should one answer a question incorrectly the online platform provides a built in “Self-Correcting” mechanism where you are asked to go back and select another answer A, B, C, or D.

After you have completed each quiz for a specific CPD module, you will be notified of the CPD Points attained for that Module. Your CPD Points are automatically updated and recorded on our online platform. At any point in time of your choosing, you can login into your account and download or email yourself a “Certificate of Completion”. Should a certificate ever be misplace you can always login again at any time and download another.

Builders are required to keep and maintain a log of all CPD points attained. At BlueprintCPD we have made it simple to keep a record of all your CPD attained on our platform. Simply login at anytime of your choosing and you can access and download a complete record of your CPD Points.

We have a number of price points for each CPD bundle or package. The number of CPD Points to purchase usually depends on how many CPD Points a builder requires to renew their licence. However, we have 36 & 60 CPD packages which work out even cheaper and you can login once a year over a 3 or 5 year period and attain your CPD Points that way.
